Need prayers

I need your prayers. The apartment caught on fire tonight. Everyone got out all right, but I loss all of my cats. Also everything in Williams room was lost. I am at the Comfort Suites paid for by the fire department. The kids are with my ex husband.

Holy crap. Do you have fire insurance? I don't know how it works for apartments. But I thought there was some way to insure your property or something.

Are you sure the cats didn't find some other way out? A friend of mine's home burned down and she found the cats nearby, days later.

Damn. Sorry. The children are at least uninjured? Were you able to get important papers and legal documents?

I guess what I mean, is there anything practical anyone could do to help, besides pray?

Thanks for responding really needed someone to talk to. Could not get a hold of local friends. hopefully we will hook up tomorrow.

You're concerned you might be evicted? Was it your fault? If it was in your son's room, it had to have been electrical. Usually that's the building's fault.

Does he have an oppositional defiance disorder? I can't remember if you said. If he's mentally incompetent in some ambiguous way, then you should be able to waive liability. Should.

I say this as an adult who was once a child with ODD who set fire to lots of stuff. The fact that I was a minor was relevant. (:

Oh well then it would be a violation of the Americans With Disabilities Act to evict you.

But they might fine you for damages. Unless you have some kind of renter's insurance, that might cover the cost.

I think it was suppose to be part of the deposit. Or at least I hope it was.
